Two-Year-Old provision and Nursery

  • New starters all receive an opportunity to come into school to meet with key staff before their child starts with us. They will receive important information about the school at this meeting.
  • Children’s transition into Nursery will be carefully planned
  • Staff limit the number of new starters on any one day
  • During the Autumn Term parents/guardians will be invited to stay and play.
  • Parents will be invited to attend a formal parent consultation meeting in the first half term.

 Reception

  • Children new to Reception children spend time in the Reception classroom ahead of starting in September. This provides an informal opportunity to meet staff and familiarise themselves with the learning environment.
  • Children new to Reception and their parents/guardians are invited to a meeting to meet staff before their child starts with us. They will receive important information about the school at this meeting
  • Children and their families are invited to try school dinners.
  • During the Autumn Term parents/guardians will be invited to ‘Stay and Play’ 
  • Parents will be invited to attend a formal parent consultation meeting in the first half term.

Year 1 – Year 5

  • All children take part in a transition days before the end of summer term to meet their new teachers and familiarise themselves with their new learning environments.
  • Parents will be invited to attend an informal book sharing meeting “ Star books” and  a formal parent consultation meeting in the Spring term.
  • During the Autumn Term parents/guardians will be invited to ‘Book and Breakfast’ sessions.

Year 6 only:

  • Children and their families are given the opportunity to attend Open Evening events ahead of submitting secondary school preferences to the Local Authority.
  • Children visit their new schools in July. Transition days usually last between 2-5 days.
  • Teachers from the feeder secondary schools visit the children during the summer term.
  • Teachers share information with the feeder schools about the children.
  • The children receive lots of support with social and emotional resilience during this important time in their life.
