Enrichment

Our enrichment opportunities are designed to extend beyond the academic; with a specific focus on our community and wider society. This is because we want our pupils to experience a wide range of opportunities in our ever-changing world. We focus on developing pupilsโ€™ moral, spiritual, social and cultural understanding so that they are well-prepared for life in modern Britain.

We aim to introduce the pupils to a wide breadth of opportunities to enable them to make informed choices about their futures and uncover and nurture their God-given talents. To do this we ensure that during their time at St Maryโ€™s, children are offered a variety of enrichment opportunities.

Chess in School

Children have the opportunity to learn and play Chess.ย  Chess is a brilliant way for children to develop skills such as patience and critical thinking. It inspires creativity and sparks the competitive spirit.

Opportunity to be part of a musical performance

All of our children have the opportunity to work with aย  specialist music teacher and take part in termly musical performances. This give the children the opportunity to express themselves, to explore their creativity, to work hard at something, persevere and thrive.

Take One Picture

Children throughout the school participate in this national programme exploring the artwork of the National Gallery, with a particular focus on one picture. The aim is to inspire a lifelong love of art and learning.

MIMA

Children will be given the opportunity to create and exhibit their artwork, curated by professionals from the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art.

Building Our Futures Programme

Our children in Year 4 work with local employers to explore the world of work and gain vital skills to increase their employability.

Shine Festival

Shine Festival is an inclusive choral festival, providing the children with an open stage and feedback for singing groups across the Tees Valley area.
